Spring Festival !!!
Well, our last showing for the semester is coming up next Friday, March 30th (yes, we really ARE letting you know a week in advance!!), and we're celebrating the ending of winter with our 3rd-annual Spring Festival~!
First and foremost, we'll be in our regular spot at the regular time - A-1046 @ 7:30pm
Like last year, we'll have a few special things going on, on top of our regular showing~
COSPLAY
Got an anime costume sitting around or itching to be made? Put it on and show it off! Cosplay is always welcome, but especially for Spring Festival! (Who knows, if we have enough people in costume, maybe somebody will get a prize for the best one!)
KARAOKE
We love karaoke and we know you guys do too, so we're giving you the chance to sing your heart out to your favourite anime and j-pop/rock tunes! You can bring in your own music on CD, iPod, or Flash Drive, or e-mail us your song (10MiB or under, or a link to a reputable download) and we'll look after it. If you're bringing in your music, please bring along lyrics as well, so that we can all sing along together! Please do this as soon as possible, so that we can spend more time singing and less time finding the words to what we want to sing.
TRIVIA
So, how much were YOU paying attention this semester? We'll test your know-how and find out! As well, you can test us, and see how well WE were paying attention! Check out what we've shown over the semester, watch it again, and bring in your own questions, to see how well we do! Also, please remember that to participate in either form of Trivia this semester, we do require you to purchase a membership. They cost $5, and while we will have change, it will be in limited amounts - please, if possible, load us up with your five dollar bills, twoonies and loonies, so that we don't have to give you change!! Buy a membership, get a cool card, maybe one of ten trivia posters, and the knowledge that you're supporting your local anime society, allowing us to do bigger and better things!
And MORE!!!
Hey,this is for you guys! If you want to add to the party, feel free! Food and drinks are always welcome! (No alcohol permitted) We'll also have some food for you guys, so come and enjoy!
OH, AND THE ANIME...
Let's not forget we have some anime to show you guys! In a nostalgic turn of events, we're going back to the 70s and bringing you Space Captain Harlock!!! And to remind us all of how much we don't enjoy dubbing, we're bringing you BAD American Dubbing.
Space Pirate Captain Harlock
The year is 2977. Mankind has become complacent and stagnant. All work is done by machines, while humans spend all their time on entertainment. But when a mysterious invader from the stars catches Earth unawares, only the legendary space pirate Captain Harlock and the crew of the Arcadia have the will to stand against them.
BAD American Dubbing
"The story you are about to see is true. Japanese cartoons, revered the world over, have been grotesquely mutated by fat Yankee pig producers, with the sole purpose of making a buck, regardless of the personal and/or artistic cost. This is the story of those Japanese cartoons. This is the story of...BAD AMERICAN DUBBING!" This short film showcases low-standard dubbing, featuring scenes from the very worst dubs you've seen, and very likely some of the worst dubs you are glad you never did see!
So everyone, we hope you'll be there! Come and celebrate the fact that we can see the grass, even if it is brown!

Sci-Fi on the Rock
Did this get mentioned last night? Sci-Fi on the Rock, a sci-fi/fantasy/gaming/etc convention held at Hotel Mount Pearl will be taking place on April 1st. The Anime Society will have a table there, as will some other local groups and businesses that might interest you guys - AbbyShot, MUN GEEKsoc and the like. It looks pretty interesting, so if you've got time, feel free to come out and see us! We'll be the ones in kimono watching Fullmetal Alchemist at our table and playing with action figures. Yep. XD

March 16th Showing~
Hi all! We're hoping to see you all in A-1046 this Friday at 7:30 for our second-last showing of the semester. Don't forget that the Spring Festival will be taking place at the showing after that, where we'll finish off the winter blues with a fun night of karaoke, Japanese food, trivia, cosplay and Bad American Dubbing (oh no!). Don't forget to keep an eye out for good trivia to ask us, this time around!
On this week's schedule:
Yu-Gi-Oh! "Season 0"
Game loving Mutou Yugi was given an ancient relic by his grandfather called the Sennen (Thousand-Year) Puzzle. He completed the puzzle and was possessed by the spirit of an ancient Pharaoh. The Pharaoh has no memories of who he is or how he got in the puzzle to begin with. The Pharaoh looks out for Yugi and his friends and Yugi agrees to help the Pharaoh recover his lost memory and help him be put to rest so he can go on to the afterlife and finally leave Yugi's body.
.REC
Fumihiko Matsumaru is an average salaryman with no girlfriend. He invited his colleague, Miss Tanaka, to a movie but was stood up. Right at the time he was about to toss tickets into a trash can, a cute girl appeared and asked him not to waste those two tickets. After movie and dinner, he escorted her home and found they live in the same neighborhood, yet unfortunately her apartment caught on fire hours later. Having nowhere else to stay, rookie seiyuu Aka Onda moved to Matsumaru's place, and the two had started a "more than friends but not yet lovers" relationship under the same roof while keeping this secret from their employers.
