Exciting news!‏

Hello again!
We at the exec have some rather exciting news to share with all of you. As some of you may know, former exec and current beloved member Ron runs a geek website, the Time Cave. Well, he has just finished an entire section devoted to the Anime Society and we suggest you all check it out. There's a history of the society, links to anime website resources, a language guide and much more. I've just been flicking through and I'm actually a little staggered by how much work Ron has put in. You can find it all here: http://timecave.net/anime/ Happy reading!

Anime This Friday!‏

Hello all,
It's that time again! We have anime this Friday, February 5 (how the time flies!) in A-1046 at 7:30. And we're showing:
Letter Bee
Apparently abandoned by his mother, orphan Lag Seeing is taken as a "letter" by "Letter Bee" Gauche Suede to a town where his aunt raises him. His affection and admiration for Gauche give Lag the ambition to become a Letter Bee himself, carrying mail through the dangerous wasteland between towns on his world. When he becomes a teenager, he makes the trip to the capital to take the examination to become a trainee Letter Bee. En route, he meets the strange, powerful girl-like creature Niche, who becomes his "dingo," a Letter Bee's travelling companion. Lag yearns to find his mother, and discover why she abandoned him, if she did.
Bartender
Genius bartender, Ryu Sasakura makes the most incredible cocktails anyone has ever tasted. Seeking his "Glass of God", individuals from all different walks of life visit his bar. With both a compassionate ear and a godly drink, Ryu helps people with their problems.
As always, we look forward to seeing you all on Friday! (And no, just because we're showing an anime whose only theme is listed as "alcohol" doesn't mean we're all getting wasted).

Anime Society this Friday!‏

Hello all,
Well, it seems like we just got rid of you and now we're inviting you back again! First of all, I'd like to apologize for last week's technical problems. I assure you, that has never happened before (in my memory anyway, although some of the old execs have a few horror stories) and we will do everything in our power to make sure it never happens again.
That being said, we have our next showing this week, on January 22, at 7:30 in A-1046. As has become the new tradition, we are having American Anime Night. And we're showing:
Inspector Gadget
A clumsy, simple-witted detective named Inspector Gadget is a human being with various bionic gadgets built into his body. With the aid of his niece, Penny, and dog, Brain, he fights his arch-nemesis, Dr. Claw, the leader of an evil organization, known as "M.A.D." (Yes, we know it's not strictly anime but it was animated in Japan and you can't argue with that catchy theme song).
And, of course, one more thing:
Jackie Chan Adventures
The series features the fictional adventures of Jackie Chan, who is an archaeologist, martial arts expert and reluctant sercret agent in the series. With help from his niece Jade, his grumpy old uncle (simply known as "Uncle") and his old friend Captain Black, he saves the world from evil forces that attempt to use magical artifacts to rule the world.
Hope to see you all there!

Anime Society This Friday!‏

Hello!
Well, once again the semester has started and it's anime time! We have anime this Friday (January 15) at 7:30 in A-1046 (although that room number may be subject to change. Sorry for the late notice but, you know, the exec was totally busy saving the world from aliens while simultaneously ending world hunger and teaching Nicholas Cage how to act (we failed at one of these things; we'll let you guess which). This first showing will be a shortened showing and meet & greet to welcome new members. And we're showing:
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Two brothers lose their mother to an incurable disease. With the power of "alchemy", they use taboo knowledge to resurrect her. The process fails, and as a toll for using this type of alchemy, the older brother, Edward Elric loses his left leg while the younger brother, Alphonse Elric loses his entire body. To save his brother, Edward sacrifices his right arm and is able to affix his brother's soul to a suit of armor. With the help of a family friend, Edward receives metal limbs - "automail" - to replace his lost ones. With that, Edward vows to search for the Philosopher's Stone to return the brothers to their original bodies, even if it means becoming a "State Alchemist", one who uses his/her alchemy for the military.
Also, to all of last semester's trivia winners: we will hopefully have your posters this Friday. Hope to see you all then!
