To those of you who attended Death Note tonight, my apologies for the mess. To make it a little better, I do have an explanation, and also the most sincere apologies of the Event Manager, and tonight's Floor Manager.
Earlier today, the sound for Death Note was checked, but these checks usually only run a couple of minutes into the movie's file - if you remember, the background sound did work, we were only missing the major voices. (These are two different sound tracks within the file.) So the check had everything appear fine. Unknown to the manager looking after everything tonight, an e-mail noting that the director's voice may be missing in the pre-show due to certain program settings, and the changes that needed to be made, was sent out earlier today. While you all watched a voice-less pre-show, this method was attempted four or five times. It was eventually discovered (as you know, about 15 minutes in) that certain OTHER settings were incorrect. Clearly, they were changed to whatever it is they should be, and we had sound.
So, it appears that this was a lack of communication, and some wierd program stuff. *shrug* Such is life, I suppose, when dealing with technology.
Once again, my apologies for everything. Sadly, the Society was only involved as you saw us - we did the costume contest, and got to plug what we do. The planning and execution of tonight was out of our control.
Also, I have been assured that the Bleach movie, to be screened October 20th, will not have any of these problems. I expect that the sound check will be VERY thorough. The manager tonight was quite upset.
Hopefully this hasn't turned you off Empire Theatres' anime nights, we're working towards getting them more regularly.
Thanks!
