Important reminder‏

Hello guys and gals,
Well, as I'm sure all of you are aware, Newfoundland is running its annual convention, Sci Fi on the Rock, this Saturday and Sunday (APril 17 and 18). It's located at the Holiday Inn, as it always is, and I encourage all of you to turn up. Not only is it always great fun, but this year the anime club is doing something special. From 7:00 to 12:00 at night, we will be running an Anime Extravaganza. There will be an AMV dance party, a showing, trivia and two rounds of Anime Jeopardy (and just to reassure you, my Jeopardy answers are much easier than my trivia . . . mostly). There wll be prizes and good times all around. And if that doesn't convince, well, have I mentioned some of the exec will be cosplaying in short skirts? (I assure you, Aaron makes a lovely Sailor Moon). Anyway, hope to see you all there!
~Rowena

Hi there,

Colin Peters here. None of you know me, I'm pretty sure, since I would have attended my last AFS meeting some time in, um, about 1996.

I just googled the SJAFS on a whim, to see if it still existed, and imagine my surprise to find it, not only still here, but going strong. Keep up the great work!

It was a blast for me to read through the history section and see all the things that have happened. As far as I can remember, it's pretty accurate. I think it was 93 or 94 when we started, and the first meetings were indeed held in Richard Murdey's basement, watching old Captain Harlock videos or Laser Discs (!) of Nuku Nuku. Or maybe we started with Akira. Heh, good times...

Anyway, just thought you might get a kick out of hearing from an old-timer. Good luck! 頑張ってください。
