Sorry for the excessively late notice. Papers and whatnot have been overwhelming this week.
Tonight is our last showing of the semester, 7:30, A-1043.
We're having Trivia, open to members (only $5). Maybe non-members as well, to get a good bunch of people. We'll see....
To accommodate Trivia, we're doing a half-showing.
We're screening Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, a Miyazaki film.
In the post-apocalyptic future, large parts of the world have been swallowed up by forests of poisonous fungi. The remaining humans live near the fungus and its monstrous insectoid inhabitants, trying to prevent its spread. One of the human kingdoms, the peaceful Valley of Wind, loves its gentle Princess NausicaƤ and her father the king, but their peace is about to be broken, as they are swallowed up in the machinations of their larger, warmongering neighbours. However, NausicaƤ has hidden potential, and may yet change the fate of the world.
Hopefully we'll see you tonight!

Member's Choice Night is Friday!
Hey everyone!
There's anime again this week, Friday the 14th, in A-1043 at 7:30.
As it's Member's Choice Night, the exec. didn't select this week's anime. We're rating this showing 14+. And now...we're Screening...
The Wallflower (Rowena's Choice)
Kyouhei, Ranmaru, Takenaga, and Yukinojou are beautiful, handsome, young men living in a huge mansion. One day, their landlord, whom they call "Auntie", asks them a favor: to make her niece, Sunako, who's going to be living with them, into a respectable young lady. She agrees to make their living expenses free of charge if they succeed, but if they fail, she'll triple their rent. Due to their confidence in knowing how to deal with women, they agree, but once they meet Sunako, they begin to realize that their lovely living arrangements may soon be in jeopardy.
and Jing: King of Bandits (Duane's Choice)
Jing may appear to be a young boy, but his remarkable skills make him one of the most feared thieves on the planet. Along with his feathered partner Kir, Jing travels from town to town, stealing anything of value regardless of the amount of security. But when he's in a pinch, he has one more trick up his sleeve: Kir bonds with Jing's right arm to perform the effectively deadly "Kir Royale" attack. And because of all this, Jing is infamously known by many as the "King of Bandits."
Hopefully we'll see you all on Friday! A Reminder to our member's who got their choices, please don't forget to bring your anime with you!

And we have a showing!
So, we've figured everything out!
We're showing Kaibutsu Oujo and Boogiepop Phantom!
Kaibustu Oujo, or Monster Princess
Since Hiro Hiyorimi's parents died, he and his sister Sawawa have lived apart. Now, Sawawa has gotten a new job as the caretaker of a creepy old mansion, and has sent Hiro a letter asking him to come and stay there with her. Finding the mansion boarded up and apparently empty, Hiro wanders around town looking for Sawawa. Instead, he runs into the new resident of the mansion, and ends up pushing her out of the way of some falling steel beams. Unfortunately, he loses his own life in the process. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, the person he thought he saved turns out to be a princess of the monster kingdom, and she grants him a second life...but only for as long as he will be her servant.
Boogiepop Phantom
A light in the sky, followed by a strange aura and grisly murders. Each character tells there own connection to the event and to a similar murder spree 5 years ago. All of the different stories are slowly tied together by seemingly minute similarities and the story of Boogiepop is unraveled.
Hopefully we'll see you guys on Friday!

Anime on Friday!
Hey everyone, sorry about the delay in getting this week's e-mail out. Schoolwork, and all that.
This Friday we'll be back in A-1043, at 7:30.
We're bringing you....
Fushigi Yuugi
Miaka Yuuki, an average middle school student caught up in studying for exams, is sucked into an ancient Chinese novel titled "The Universe of Four Gods". There she discovers that she is in an ancient country in what is now China, Konan, and is to be the Priestess of one of the four gods, Suzaku. As the priestess, her duty is to gather the Seven Seishi of Suzaku, who are to be her protectors. Once they are gathered, the priestess will summon the god Suzaku and bring peace between the warring lands, Konan and Kutou. But it's harder than it seems. Along the road, many hardships are faced, as Miaka's best friend Yui Hongo enters the book and becomes her rival, the priestess of Seiryuu in the land of Kutou. Who summons their god first is up to the courage and skill of the priestesses and their seishi, as they meet triumphs and tragedies along the way.
and Eureka Seven
Renton Thurston is a 14-year-old boy who lived with his mechanic grandfather in a backwater town. Every day he dreamed of being with the mercenary "Light Finding Operation (LFO)" aircraft pilot group "Gekkostate" and riding "Trapar" particle waves-- a sport called "reffing"-- with their charismatic leader Holland, especially when faced with his father's acclaimed past or his grandfather's desire to protect him. When a young girl named Eureka riding the original LFO, the "Nirvash typeZERO", asks his grandfather for a tune-up, she inadvertently brings the attention of the military to the garage; as a result, the garage is destroyed and Renton is forced to deliver a new type of interface-- the "Amita Drive"-- to the Nirvash. After a heated fight in which the Nirvash destroys the military LFOs by unleashing an immense amount of power, Renton is invited into Gekkostate. However, he quickly realizes that behind the facade of a traveling group of mercenaries is a very bitter reality.

Re: Death Note
To those of you who attended Death Note tonight, my apologies for the mess. To make it a little better, I do have an explanation, and also the most sincere apologies of the Event Manager, and tonight's Floor Manager.
Earlier today, the sound for Death Note was checked, but these checks usually only run a couple of minutes into the movie's file - if you remember, the background sound did work, we were only missing the major voices. (These are two different sound tracks within the file.) So the check had everything appear fine. Unknown to the manager looking after everything tonight, an e-mail noting that the director's voice may be missing in the pre-show due to certain program settings, and the changes that needed to be made, was sent out earlier today. While you all watched a voice-less pre-show, this method was attempted four or five times. It was eventually discovered (as you know, about 15 minutes in) that certain OTHER settings were incorrect. Clearly, they were changed to whatever it is they should be, and we had sound.
So, it appears that this was a lack of communication, and some wierd program stuff. *shrug* Such is life, I suppose, when dealing with technology.
Once again, my apologies for everything. Sadly, the Society was only involved as you saw us - we did the costume contest, and got to plug what we do. The planning and execution of tonight was out of our control.
Also, I have been assured that the Bleach movie, to be screened October 20th, will not have any of these problems. I expect that the sound check will be VERY thorough. The manager tonight was quite upset.
Hopefully this hasn't turned you off Empire Theatres' anime nights, we're working towards getting them more regularly.
Thanks!

Fall Semester 2008 Begins!
Hello everyone, and welcome to a new semester of anime!
This semester we've changed rooms and can be found in A-1043, in the Arts and Administration Atrium. As usual, we'll be found there at 7:30pm on Fridays - not every Friday though!
We're starting showings this Friday, September 12th. As we've been doing, this will be a Movie Night and Meet & Greet. We'll start the movie at 7:30, then give you all the run-down on our plans for the semester!
Given our failed attempt to get Brave Story off of Chris' external hard drive this summer, we're going to show it on Friday! (Yes, we do have a copy that we can get at, now!)
When 11 year old Wataru's father leaves home and his mother is taken ill to hospital, he decides to change his fate by travelling through the door shown to him by his friend Mitsuru. In a land of magic and monsters, Wataru must summon all his courage and embark on a journey with several comrades to meet the Goddess of Destiny and change this "mistaken fate".
Hopefully we'll see you on Friday!
P.S. - A copy of this post was sent out to our mailing list. If you signed up and did not receive an e-mail, or would like to sign up now, please e-mail us at munanime@gmail.com and let us know!

Anime on Friday!
Hello everyone!
Our second-last showing of the summer is this coming Friday, in A-1046 at 7:30 pm. It's amazing how fast the semester has gone by!
This showing is an Adult Only 18+ showing. We're showing...
They Are My Noble Masters (Rated 18+ for suggestive themes and mature content) (Comedy)
Due to family troubles, Ren Uesugi and his sister, Mihato, leave their home. They end up moving to the city but find themselves with a lack of money. Somehow they are able to find work in the form of the Kuonji family's mansion, and are employed as servants to the three sisters of the Kuonji family: Shinra, Miyu, and Yume. Being a butler also associates Ren with the mansion's additional servants and the Kuonji sisters' friends. Please note that in this world, butlers have super powers, and...interesting duties.
and tentatively Dragon Drive (we are not entirely certain of the availability of this, therefore a substitute may be used. We should know about this fairly soon.)
Oozora Reiji isn't a lazy boy, he's just terribly unmotivated; all the clubs and activities he's joined don't interest him for long. That is, of course, until his best friend Yukino takes him to a underground arcade where an unbelievable virtual reality game is played - Dragon Drive - in which players fight each other with virtual dragons. Reiji ends up throwing all he's got into training a dragon so rare that the Dragon Drive staff are baffled. But soon Reiji learns that Dragon Drive isn't all it seems, and he might be the only one who can save an entire world from evil.
Android Ana Maico 2010 (Comedy) is an alternative
In the year 2010, the Japanese radio industry is in decline. To reverse their flagging ratings, a station staffed with perennial losers makes a daring gamble: to hire the industry's first android on-air host. Maico is cute, but it will take more than novelty to win over the fickle audience -- especially with a crew as inept as this one.
Hopefully we'll see you there!

Plans for the Summer
So, last Friday we revealed our plans for this summer - we're trying something new. Previous summers have shown us that attendance drops off (how shocking, right?).
So we're going to drop a couple of the showings for this summer, and reduce our schedule to monthly showings, rather than bi-weekly ones.
We'll be in A-1046 on June 20th through 22rd (for our Midterm Fest, which is Vision of Escaflowne), July 18th, and August 1st. We'll send out e-mails as usual, to remind you that we do exist, and to announce what we're screening.
Our regular schedule will resume in September, and next summer's schedule will depend on how this year things work out.
Sorry for any inconvenience, and we'll see you on the 20th!!

New Semester of Anime!
Sorry about the late notice everyone, I'd forgotten that the semester had started, and that I needed to do this!!
Our first showing for this semester is TOMORROW NIGHT, May 23rd. We're once again in A-1046, the atrium of the Arts & Admin building, at 7:30pm.
We're showing Brave Story, and then we'll explain all of our nefarious plans for this summer.
Brave Story (Rated 14+)
When 11 year old Wataru's father leaves home and his mother is taken ill to hospital, he decides to change his fate by travelling through the door shown to him by his friend Mitsuru. In a land of magic and monsters, Wataru must summon all his courage and embark on a journey with several comrades to meet the Goddess of Destiny and change this "mistaken fate".

Sci-Fi On the Rock
As most of you know, we have a local Science-Fiction/Fantasy convention, called Sci-Fi On the Rock. It started last year with a one-day event, and this year has graduated to two.
It's this weekend!! Saturday, April 19th, and Sunday, April 20th, at the Holiday Inn in St. John's (on Portugal Cove Road). The doors open at 9am on both mornings, and runs until 6pm. Tickets are $10 per day, or $18 for a weekend pass.
We'll be there with a table, with details about the Summer Semester, and also a few sneak peeks of what we'll be showing. Also, all of the executive will be in costume, so drop by and see what we've cooked up! (Personally, I'll be wearing four different costumes over the course of the convention, so come check them out!)
If that isn't enough reason, Mae and I are also doing a Cosplay workshop, going through the process of how we come up with these costumes and answering any questions you have. We'll be in the Roddenberry Room at 12pm on Saturday! You should come!!
Check out www.scifiontherock.com or their Facebook group (linked on their website) for details about who will be there, what the other workshops are, and all that good stuff.
Also, Society T-Shirts will be ordered following the convention, assuming that we have 24 items ordered. Currently we have 8 or 9. We'll have all the details about the orders there, so drop in and take a look, before we either a) make the order or b) give everyone's money back!! Please let it be the first, not the second!
Hopefully we'll see lots of you this weekend! Come support our local con, so that they'll be back next year with even more happening!!

Spring Festival
Hey everyone.
Sorry about the late notice, my laptop has been in the shop, and my life has been rather confused.
There's anime in two days!! A-1046, 7pm. Rating at 14+
Because it's our last showing for the semester, we're going all out. We'll start with a movie, then do trivia (and exec. trivia) (Trivia requires a membership, only $5!), eat some candy/food, have karaoke (a sing-a-long, really - we won't take away the vocals), and we're also having a COSTUME CONTEST.
That's right, you have 48 hours to dig out or put together a costume!! ^^; Sorry for not giving you a little more notice. Good luck! (We will be conscious of the fact that you've had 48 hours notice when awarding the prize, we promise!)
Our movie for the night is the Studio Ghibli's Classic, Princess Mononoke
While fighting to save his village from the attack of a demon-god Ashitaka is injured and inflicted with a deadly curse. In his search for a cure he is forced to leave his village and journey to the forest inhabited by animal gods. There he finds himself in the middle of a war between the forest gods and a mining village led by lady Eboshi.
Also, we're currently doing a t-shirt order, to be placed after Sci-Fi on the Rock. T-shirts are 15 dollars each and available in sizes XS-XXXL. You must pre-pay, so that we can be sure the shirts are sold. We're offering a choice of colors: Chocolate, Black, Light Pink, Sand, Natural, Ash, Maroon, Irish Green, Hunter Green, Gold, Daisy, Indigo, or Light Blue. See http://www.technosport.com/product_details.asp?PID=8&CatID=1&Dis=1 for pictures of the colors.
Once we receive the shirts, there will be an e-mail sent out to notify you. They'll be at our summer showings for pick-up. If you're out of town for the summer, don't worry - we'll keep them safe until a) you can pick them up in the fall or b) you make a trip in - we can arrange pick-up with you if you let us know.
Please have exact change, if possible, when you place your order - it's hard to have enough fives to change all of your 20s!
Good luck with your costume-making, and we hope to see you on Friday!!

Cosplay Day and Member's Choice Night
Regarding Cosplay Day - we're putting this on the back burner until early in the Fall semester, when we can organize costumes and your participation. Also, when we won't die of frostbite from stepping outside in anything that can be an obvious anime costume. ^^ Sorry to all of you who worked so hard, but it's coooooollllld, and I'm weak and timid. ^^ So yes, something for September when it's warm. In case my rambling wasn't clear - Cosplay Day tomorrow is CANCELLED. (If you do wander around in costume anyway, we applaud your bravery and devotion, and urge you to consider joining the executive in the fall.)
Regarding the Showing - I've heard back from our two members. (For those of you unfamiliar with what we're doing this week, two of our members had their names drawn from a hat last showing and they each got to pick out what we're showing this week.)
Ironically, they came up with a theme night without speaking to each other about their choices.
Notes - A-1046, 7:30 start. Nothing new. Rating: 16+
And our theme is....SPACE COWBOYS~~~
To start, we get Outlaw Star (1-4) thanks to Aaron.
And to complement this, we have Cowboy Bebop (1-4) courtesy of Eric.
Spike Spiegel, a bounty Hunter with a dark past, lives on bounty to bounty, barely making it each time, or not making it at all. His partners Jet Black, Faye Valentine, Ed and Ein the dog all help him in his adventures from planet to planet.
Hopefully we'll see you on Friday!

We're back on Friday!!
So, I just realized that we have anime this Friday, and that I hadn't sent the e-mail yet. This is what I get for relaxing and not thinking about things over break.
So we'll be in A-1046 as usual, starting at 7:30. If you have something to tell us, we'll be around after 7. We're rating this at
Because Midterm break started on the 15th, we didn't get to do anything for Valentine's. And given that there's so much anime absorbed with love, we just couldn't abandon a night of romance completely. But don't be afraid! This isn't your typical night of lovey-dovey romance flaunting itself to all the
singles out there!
To start things off, we're hauling out the classic romantic comedy anime - Ranma 1/2, Big Trouble in Nekonron, China (Movie 1)
All is well at the Tendo residence when from out of nowhere, a Chinese girl named Lychee appears, seeking revenge on Happosai for a broken promise made since her birth. Things get worse when Kirin and the Seven Lucky Gods appear and abduct Akane to take as his wife. Ranma and the gang must travel to Nekonron, China, and save Akane from getting married to Kirin.
And because this is a "Valentine's Day" Showing....Magical Chocolate (8-minute Valentine's short)
A girl believes that chocolate given by a mysterious magical person will contain a love potion that will make her crush fall in love with her.
And to conclude the evening - Love Hina Again (3-episode OAV)
So hopefully everyone can come and enjoy an evening of romance and laughter, without too much of the stigma of Valentine's Day, if you feel negatively about it. It's a night of romance, Anime Society-style!! See you Friday!

Keitaro has finally passed the entrance exams, and is officially a Toudai student. But after breaking his leg in an accident in the entrance ceremony, he thought and re-evaluated himself. Having new goals, Keitaro follows Seta on an overseas archeology trip. During his absence, however, all was not well in Hinata Lodge. Urashima Kanako, Keitaro's sister, arrives on the scene. She claims to be the new manager of Hinata Lodge starts to go against all the tenants. Things become even more complicated when they recieve a letter from Keitaro. The tenants and Kanako made a big mess trying to get the letter, but Seta's car crashes in before anyone could read it...
So hopefully everyone can come and enjoy an evening of romance and laughter, without too much of the stigma of Valentine's Day, if you feel negatively about it. It's a night of romance, Anime Society-style!! See you Friday!

Midterm Fest
So, Midterm break is this weekend! As you all probably know, that means we're showing A FULL SERIES! As usual, it'll be split over three nights, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, (Feb. 15-17) and we'll start at our usual 7:30 each night, in room A-1046.
Our series of choice this semester is Zero no Tsukaima, translated as Zero's Familiar. In this case, we're actually screening two seasons, 13 episodes and 12 episodes.
On Friday we're screening the first 9 episodes.
Saturday it's the remaining 4 of season one, and 1-4 of season two.
Sunday, 5-12 of Season Two.
Rating: 14+
Louise is a budding magician. The students at the Tristein Academy call her "Zero Louise", due to her current record of zero successes with magic. In fact, her magic tends to go spectacularly wrong. Now, as an important test of her aptitude for magic, she must summon a familiar to be her servant. At this critical moment, she summons up all her magic and wishes for a familiar that is "devoted, beautiful and powerful", and gets... Hiraga Saito, an ordinary Japanese boy. It's difficult to say who is more surprised and dismayed, but the rules don't allow for second attempts. Louise is stuck with her strange familiar, and he with her.
Also, sorry for the lateness of this week's post, school's been busy.
Hopefully we'll see you this weekend!!

Two Weeks Notice
No, we're not quitting, but here's two weeks notice - our next showing is on February 1st. Once again we're in A-1046, and our rating is 16+.
There will be a meeting at 7:00 - this is important, as we will be selecting a new logo for the society, or deciding to keep the old one. Please come and have your say, it's your club too! (Note, Feb. 1st is also Mixer Crawl night, please try to be at least a little sober. Overly drunk people will be a) ignored and b) thrown out if rowdy.)
Hopefully we'll be able to keep this meeting short, and start the anime 7:30, "as usual." We're showing...
Trigun
Vash the Stampede is a gunman on the run with a 60 billion double dollar bounty on his head which has made it difficult for him to go anywhere without being chased and shot at. Every town he ever visits ends up being destroyed because of his pursuers, but miraculously no one ever gets killed. Meryl and Milly are two insurance agents that have been sent to find Vash the Stampede and keep him under surveillance so no more damage is caused. Meryl, who leads the pair, refuses to believe that the man they have met can possibly be the legendary gunman. This spikey haired, gangly, young man is extremely friendly, a pacifist, hates blood and suicide, absolutely loves donuts, and is a dork and a crybaby (far from a notorious outlaw). But there is more to Vash and his past than meets the eye.
.hack//Roots
In 2015, CC Corporation`s datacenter caught on fire destroying "The World". By splicing in data from what would have been another project, CC Corp. was able to rebuild the game. In 2016, "The World R:2" was released. .hack//Roots covers the time Haseo spent with Shino and Ovan in the guild known as the Twilight Brigade, before the .hack//G.U. PS2 games.
We hope to see you there!

Showing!
Hey everyone. This Friday we're having our first full showing, A-1046, 7:30. Rating is 16+. As usual, we'll be avaliable beforehand from 7 for the purchase of memberships, for $5. Please try to have exact change, it's hard for us to deal with getting five twenties in one go.
This week is the final cut-off for logo submissions. On Feb. 1st at 7:00 we will be holding an open meeting to discuss the submissions and select a logo. T-shirts will then be priced, and hopefully the order will be placed soon thereafter.
The Showing:
Gundam 00
It is the year 2307 A.D. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (formerly United States of America), the Human Reform League (Russia, China and India) and the Advanced European Union. However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the various other factions.
Murder Princess
Times are dangerous in the kingdom of Forland. Rebels are trying for the throne, and a mysterious woman with great powers is involved. The crown prince has left on a military campaign, leaving only the princess Alita to retake the throne, should it be lost. In Ereru Forest, the bounty hunter Faris and her two companions are killing monsters, seeking the prices they will pay. Alita and Faris cross paths, with unusual results - they switch bodies. Faris takes on Alita's name and identity, and earns her the title "Murder Princess," while Alita takes on the name of Milano and steps in as Alita's personal maid. The two must work together, protecting Forland.
Also, if you missed last Friday, I've promised to appear in costume this week, as Faris. We hope to see you there!

Meeting Adjourned.
Hello Everyone!! We've met, and talked, and come up with a plan!
We're starting up the semester this Friday with a "Meet 'n' Greet Movie Night" like last semester. This means that we're *gasp* watching a movie, and then we'll have a meeting and let you know what's up this semester. As usual, we're in A-1046 and starting at 7:30.
Before I tell you what we're showing, a couple of things from our last meeting in November. 1) Congratulations and welcome to our replacement on the Executive for Erin, Chris Whalen. 2) Welcome on-board to our trainee Executive, Elizabeth-Ann Critchley (if I misspelled that, I'm sorry).
And now, the showing!
With Parody Subtitles, Advent Children (Rated 15+ for mature humor and violence)
The Advent Children you all know and love, but with text created by fans, for fans...and our amusement. So, to anyone who doesn't want to see the horribly awesome things that these subtitles are implying, we suggest you absent yourselves.
Following the showing will be a meeting, details of which will be posted with next week's showing blurb, when we return to our normal showing schedule. (Yes, this does mean two showings in a row, both the 11th and 18th of January.)
We hope to see you there!
